Corey Kaye bio picture

Corey Kaye

I've been interested in photography since a very young age, playing with my father's 35mm Pentax when he wasn't looking.  I finally got my own 35mm from a grungy pawn shop in the early 1990s and shot as much film as I could afford.

Seeing the many benefits and creative freedoms I was an early adopter of digital, fell in love with Canon digital SLRs and have been shooting with them exclusively ever since.

Originally from Nova Scotia (photo) I relocated to Calgary (photo) in 2006.  When I’m not shooting weddings and other special events my camera is never far from my side shooting family photos, friends, travel and beautiful landscapes.

To me photography is more than just a collection of images. Powerful photographs have the ability to capture the emotion of the moments that matter most.  I'm a perfectionist, I love thoughtful, joyful photographs, meeting people and capturing who they are.  When it comes to the days that matter most you want a professional to work with you, to work for you and to capture those memories.

Feel free to contact me and check out my personal work over at Rule of Thirds.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Mike & Katherin : Wedding in Victoria

Mike, you’re amazing!  “You’re not working today Corey, relax and have a beer.”.  He’s right, I’m not shooting this wedding “officially” so what do I do?  I get out my vintage 1970′s Canon AE-1, find a few roles of 36, ISO 800 and do what I love doing.   Thanks Mike!

Katherin, you are such a stunning bride.  A very beautiful and fun wedding in Victoria.

Sarah and Joey : Little Courtney Anne

When shooting is this fun and rewarding it can hardly be called work.  Courtney is all smiles after getting her chores done and spending a sunny afternoon at the zoo.

Fab Lis - Your family is beautiful!

Sabiha & Adnan : Sana’s 1st hair cut.

They say the first (hair) cut is the deepest and it’s true, it’s a very traumatic and scary day.  Sana was a trooper and braved the ordeal, with a little help of some magic bubbles.  Don’t worry Sana, it only gets easier after this.  Thanks to Renee and the rest of the awesome staff at Beaners Fun Cuts on Northland Drive.

Adnan - these pictures look so awesome. Seems like you can make a very stressful situation look like a party with your lens. thanks so much for coming along with us corey and thanks for the great pictures.

Sabiha - Thanks for these pics Corey.. enjoyed seeing them again.. oh and you meant traumatic (and not turmeric), right ? :)

Corey Kaye - LOL! Yup, "traumatic". Thanks and updated! ^_^ Glad you enjoyed them, it was fun taking them. Sahar's hair must be getting about that time.

Kim & Gavin : Wedding in Turner Valley

Kim and Gavin decided to get married in Turner Valley under blue skies that stretch all the way to the Rocky Mountains.  This beautifully organized fairytale wedding was complete with huge white castles from Grassland Tipi and a white horse drawn carriage from First Class Carriages.  The food was amazing, the ceremony beautiful and the band was fantastic.  Congratulations to you both!
